INVITATION TO ATTEND
The Australian Vocational Education and Training Research Association (AVETRA) aims to promote quality VET research, build capacity to undertake VET research and evaluation, and provide opportunities to exchange information and ideas. VET research may be on a small or large scale, for policy development, to improve teaching and assessment practices or to discover which partnerships, programs and services best meet the needs of the individuals, communities and enterprises. AVETRA members include TAFE and university-based researchers, training managers, industry-based trainers and managers, and VET decision-makers. The annual conference aims to be informative, challenging and practical and assist people to build networks.
VET research in Australia has traditionally focussed on the challenges of the present. For the 2012 conference, researchers have been asked to address the lessons of history and challenges of the future as well as the pressing concerns of the present. Conference themes include pedagogies and pathways, learning from our VET past, the work of VET and its workforce, issues around learner success and skilling for sustainable future.
AVETRA Conference Paper of the Year and New Researcher Paper of the Year
Refereed conference papers will automatically be entered into the shortlisting for the AVETRA Conference Paper of the Year. This on-going award is funded by AVETRA and is offered annually. The award will be presented at the AVETRA Conference. Eligibility: All nominees must be current AVETRA members. AVETRA reserves the right not to make an award if none of the applications received meets the criteria for award. Those with more than five years of research are eligible for The Best Paper Award. For more information please see the awards page. A cover page has now been sent to all accepted abstract authors.
The Best Paper of New Researcher at the Conference Award is kindly sponsored by NCVER. The author must be a member of AVETRA, be within first five years of research career e.g a higher degree student and present a conference paper or interactive session based on their research at the annual conference.
Note: Authors have been requested to nominate themselves for this award when submitting their conference paper.
Employees of NCVER are not eligible for this award.
